Welcome to the 39th
Malcolm Wilson Rally
Once again we will provide a forest stage event in the beautiful Lake District, starting from the friendly town of Cockermouth with documentation & scrutineering taking place in the M-Sport complex. It will be organised by the same experienced team who have been involved for many years. The event has easy access via the M6 motorway & good A roads so come on up!
This year we have changed many parts of the event. Larch disease has meant a change of route in the Grizedale complex; Hobcarton will be a car park; and we will not be using Cockermouth main street for start & finish controls due to road engineering works; we will be using 30 second starts on some stages, and finally Rheged Centre with its close proximity to the M6 motorway will be the venue for the awards presentation.
We are keeping up with modern trends by making regulations and entries available online with payment on PayPal® if desired so that you can spread the cost on your credit cards, or use two cheques if that makes life easier.
The BTRDA® Historic Cup contenders, who are welcomed back for their fourth year should appreciate our very smooth forest roads. Well behaved management cars are welcome and may freely use the areas provided.
M-Sport will again provide their superb facilities for scrutineering and overnight rally car park, with signing on in the Merchandising Suite where competitors and service crews will be welcome. Pearl Wilson will again have her stall to raise money for the In house charity of the year, and the Chequered Flag Cafe will be open for catering at very reasonable prices both on Friday evening and Saturday morning. Security is still a high priority so please restrict your movements to the areas open to the Rally. For the first time Malcolm Wilson has arranged for tours of the premises for competitors & service crews to be available on Friday the 7th by pre-booking-see entry form for details.
Route notes will be available to all competitors; in line with other BTRDA® events these will only be available direct from Brian & Liz Patterson. See separate details within the regulations.
To improve the enjoyment of both driver & co-driver we will provide outline route maps, stage maps & tulips for road & stage sections in the road book posted out in advance, talk about Value for Money!
With a big increase in interest in the smaller classes and the return of Rally First and the Historic Cup we recommend an early entry to avoid disappointment. We look forward to seeing you in March.
