The Malcolm Wilson Rally organisers have tried for the last two weeks to find a new date. We wish to thank the Malton Forest Rally and the Cheviot Rally for their cooperation and the Devils Own Rally which was prepared to change dates to allow the event to run.

However, our negotiations have come to nothing as the North Lakes Forests were not available to us and without the mileage these stages offer the event would not be worthy of a BTRDA or Motoscope Historic stage rally. Thank you to the backing received from the championships, we are sorry to have let you down.

To our competitors, thank you for your forbearance and continued support. Until this morning we thought we had something to offer you but sadly this is not the case. Please advise your bank details – sort code and account number of the person who sent in the entry – to enable refunds to be processed without delay. These should be sent to rsandham7@gmail.com quoting your start number and both crew names.

To all our marshals, radio and safety personnel – we thank you for your continued assistance, we know many of you were prepared to brave the conditions on the weekend knowing that it would not run without you. Hopefully next March will see more reasonable weather!

Cockermouth Town Council and Allerdale Borough Council have provided support and we hope to repay your trust in us next March, and to the longest sponsor on record, Malcolm Wilson, we thank you for your continuing faith in the organising team and apologise that your guys were busy preparing the site two weeks ago when we realised that even if we could traverse the stage , most of the entry simply could not get to the event.

For the 43rd time we will provide a forest stage event in the beautiful Lake District. Starting from the friendly town of Cockermouth where scrutineering will take place on the Main Street & documentation will take place in the M-Sport complex. It will be organised by the same experienced team who have been involved for many years. The event has easy access via the M6 motorway & good A roads, the event finish will be as last year within a few metres of the M6 shortening the journey home for almost all crews so come on up! We are keeping up with modern trends by making regulations and entries available online with payment by direct bank transfer, or use two cheques if desired so that you can spread the cost. Note: when entering on line you will see an acknowledgement of submission when submitted and we will acknowledge your entry when we have matched your on line payment or received your cheques!
Route notes will be available to all competitors; in line with other BTRDA® events these will only be available direct from Brian & Liz Patterson. See separate details within the regulations. To improve the enjoyment of both driver & co-driver we will provide outline route maps, stage maps & tulips for road & stage sections in the road book posted out in advance – talk about Value for Money! With a big increase in interest in the smaller classes and the return of Rally First and the Historic Cup we recommend an early entry to avoid disappointment. We look forward to seeing you in March.
We are now compelled to run the event with traditional seeding so our smooth stages should be appreciated. Well behaved management cars are welcome and may freely use the areas provided. M-Sport will again provide their superb facilities for documentation and overnight rally car park. Pearl Wilson will again have her stall to raise money for the In House charity of the year, and the Chequered Flag Café will be open for catering – at very reasonable prices both on Friday evening and Saturday morning. Security is still a high priority so please restrict your movements to the areas open to the Rally.
